Spirit!

May 17th, 2005- As rumors have abound, and the chat rooms buzzing, Junior A hockey is finally coming to Southcentral Alaska. The Springfield Spirit of the North American Hockey League has agreed to move it's franchise to play in the newly built Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena for the 2005-2006 season.

Coaching the team will be Alaska hockey legend Dean Larson, who is a University of Alaska Anchorage hall of fame inductee, and the all-time leading scorer for the Alaska Aces, as well as the former West Coast Hockey League.  Corey Millen will be taking over General Manager duties, as well as assisting Dean with coaching. Corey has over ten years experience in the NHL, as well as 6 years in Europe following his college career as a Golden Gopher and playing on the US National Team.

On May 16th, the organization tendered 8 players, as well as drafting 5 others in the May 17th 2005 NAHL Entry Draft. Information on players will be made available on the Player Profile page as soon as it becomes available.
